This Week at MES

This week's theme at school was "The Real St. Nicholas".

Montessori works: Nicholas practiced matching geometric shapes. He used his fine motor skills for printing and push pin works.

Language: The class wrote a story together. The class also used a venn diagram to compare and contrast St. Nicholas and Santa Claus. Nicholas reviewed the letter S and enjoyed musical phonics.

Math: Nicholas played number identification games and used the Teen Board.

Good Shepherd lesson: Visitation.

Note from Mrs. Carrico: The Christmas t-shirts the children printed are dazzling. We'll keep them at school and the children can change into them after Christmas chapel. The should wear blue jeans to school that day as they will be shepherds in the Christmas program. Christmas chapel always brings a multitude of smiles and a few tears.

Mrs. Carrico asked me to come early that day so that I can help dress the children in their shepherd costumes for the performance. Stuart is off that day so maybe he'll come with me again to help out. What fun!

Nicholas tripped at school this week and as he fell his forehead hit a pole. Mrs. Carrico said that there was a loud thump at impact and she knew he would be hurt. She said he cried for a bit but them hopped up with a smile on his face and went on with what he was doing. She was still worried about him and checked on him throughout the day. Except for a bump on the noggin, he is just fine.
