What a great class we had today at playgroup. Diana and Mrs. Debbie hosted and they taught us all about the circus. Mrs. Debbie showed us a book with some great circus pictures and she told us all about the history of the circus and all the exciting animals in the shows. We also talked about the life of the performers and how they spend so much of their time travelling on the road from circus to circus. Next everyone got to make their own picture about the circus. Nicholas wanted all of his performers to be flying through the air. We watched a show that included lots of great performances - clowns, the human comet, trapeze artists, etc. Then everyone got to do their own circus performance. One person brought some dog stuffed animals that they had tied with fishing line to a wooden paint stirring stick to make marionette-style puppets (how creative!). Nicholas loved playing with these. He took his dog through an obstacle course around the room and finished by taking him through the hoop. Then Nicholas put on his favorite cape and he was suddenly transformed into a circus acrobat. He danced for everyone then started doing his acrobat tricks. Once our performances were over, we all took a break for some popcorn and animal crackers!
