On Tuesday, Nicholas' class went on a field trip to tour Great Harvest Bread Company to learn how bread is made and then toured the library. Although this is the first school field trip he has ever been on, he was only a little bit excited because we go to the library all the time and he had done the bread tour before as well. But he did have fun going to both of these again and even talked about some differences he noticed in the two tours he has had at the bread company. The class even journaled about their field trip once they got back to school. I was going to be a driver for the field trip but they ended up having so many parent volunteers that I wasn't needed.
In class, he studied the parts of the flower. He and I have reviewed flower parts already as well as the whole concept of pollination. Nicholas likes to have me pretend I'm a little girl that says "Bees are bad. They don't do anything important." Then he can correct me by explaining how they help in pollination by getting pollen on their legs at one flower and then flying to another flower where the pollen gets brushed off.
Nicholas also worked on a Father's Day present. He learned about whales. Worked with Math Mats. The Good Shepherd lesson was on Ascension.
In chapel this week, Nicholas told his teacher what his prayer was. He told her, "I was thanking God for my new baby." He often refers to the baby as "his" baby and he loves to kiss the baby by kissing my tummy. What a sweetie!
