Saturday Morning Fun

We started our Saturday morning the way we usually do every Saturday - with homemade pancakes. However, this Saturday was a little more fun. For starters, Nicholas and Daddy made two different batches of pancakes so that we could have a taste test to find the best batter. We've tried several and so far the basic Pioneer baking mix batter is our favorite.

Nicholas has been obsessing over blueberries lately. I mean it. He must have some with every meal. So I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised when he decided that he wanted to make some blueberry pancakes. He loved dropping the blueberries into the pancake batter like little bombs. He's all boy!

After our yummy breakfast we went to the a movie theater to see the new Veggie Tales movie, "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything". I had won movie passes for four free tickets. We were at the counter trading in our movie passes for actual tickets and although there were only three of us, Stuart asked to get all four tickets redeemed. I wasn't sure what he why he was doing that but then he handed the extra ticket to another father in line who was taking his little boy to the Veggie Tales movie too. We are blessed to be a blessing to others! I also had some promotional coupons for free popcorn and drinks so we got the whole movie experience for free. The movie was great and Nicholas shouted out to the screen on a few occasions. But since it was a children's movie, other kids were shouting out too. It was a lot of fun.

Next we headed to Lowe's for Stuart to do some "window shopping" for his birthday and to help me with a possible gift list for him. As he was wandering the aisles looking at tools and tool accessories, Nicholas and I were playing "Meerkats". Nicholas just loves these little animals so what could be better than pretending to be one in the middle of Lowe's. Many of the lower shelves in the store are filled with product boxes. Nicholas enjoyed finding little openings between boxes and then, of course, climbing into the little holes which then became his meerkat burrows. He often invited me into his burrow but I explained to him that Mommy was the Sentinel Meerkat that must stand guard outside the burrow to warn him of any bad guys approaching the area. While we were playing among the aisles, several guys wandered past us as they went about their tool shopping, not realizing that they were in the midst of meerkats. We must be stealthy little creatures, you know.
