This afternoon we went to Grapefest. It's a big annual street festival in Grapevine with a focus on wine. It is similar to Fest For All in Baton Rouge. Although we didn't do any wine tasting, we still had a good time. We rode the Grapevine Express train. Nicholas was so excited about boarding the train that he wouldn't stand still for me to get his picture. He was bouncing around saying, "Hurry, Mommy, Hurry!"
He loved handing our tickets to the conductor. As Nicholas climbed up the steps to enter the train, he yelled out, "All aboard!". The conductor came back by once we were seated and gave Nicholas a little lapel pin that says Junior Engineer! Nicholas loved it!
At first Nicholas didn't like the sound of the train's whistle because it was really loud.
But he soon got used to the sound and started imitating the engineer by pretending to blow the whistle himself as he said, "Whoo! Whoo!"
He also enjoyed waving at people on the ground as we rode past them on the train.
Nicholas was sad when the train ride was over. As we walked away, the engineer waved down to him and Nicholas enjoyed waving back. Look how small Nicholas is against the train engine. He was so impressed by it!
We walked around Grapefest for a while and decided we needed an Icee break before heading back to the car. Yum!
